Born: October 17, 1972

Eminem is an American rapper, songwriter, and record producer, widely regarded as one of the greatest and most influential rappers of all time.

Family and Early Life:

Marshall Bruce Mathers III, known professionally as Eminem, was born on October 17, 1972, in St. Joseph, Missouri, USA. He was raised primarily by his mother, Debbie Mathers, in a predominantly African-American, working-class neighborhood in Detroit, Michigan. Eminem faced a turbulent childhood marked by poverty, frequent relocations, and a strained relationship with his mother. He dropped out of high school at age 17 after repeating the ninth grade three times due to truancy and poor grades. Despite these challenges, Eminem found solace in hip-hop, which became his passion and a means of escape from his difficult circumstances.

Music Journey:

Eminem began rapping at a young age, performing in clubs and participating in freestyle battles around Detroit. He gained attention with his debut album, “Infinite” (1996), although it did not achieve commercial success. His breakthrough came with the release of “The Slim Shady EP” (1997), which led to a contract with Dr. Dre’s Aftermath Entertainment.

In 1999, Eminem released “The Slim Shady LP,” which became a massive commercial success, winning a Grammy Award for Best Rap Album. His alter ego, Slim Shady, allowed him to express controversial and dark humor, capturing the attention of a wide audience.

Mainstream Success:

Eminem’s subsequent albums, “The Marshall Mathers LP” (2000) and “The Eminem Show” (2002), solidified his status as a dominant force in the music industry. “The Marshall Mathers LP” became one of the best-selling albums of all time, featuring hits like “The Real Slim Shady” and “Stan.” His success continued with albums like “Encore” (2004), “Relapse” (2009), and “Recovery” (2010), the latter of which marked a personal comeback after struggles with addiction.

Awards and Recognition:

Eminem has received numerous awards throughout his career, including 15 Grammy Awards, an Academy Award for Best Original Song for “Lose Yourself” from the film “8 Mile” (2002), and several MTV Video Music Awards. He is also one of the best-selling music artists in history, with over 220 million records sold worldwide.

Personal Life:

Eminem has been open about his personal struggles, including his tumultuous relationship with his ex-wife, Kim Scott, and his battle with drug addiction. He has three daughters: Hailie Jade Mathers, his biological daughter with Kim; Alaina Marie Mathers, Kim’s niece whom he adopted; and Whitney Scott Mathers, Kim’s daughter from another relationship whom he also adopted. Eminem resides in Michigan and maintains a relatively private personal life.
